Detroit Lakes, MN (November 12, 2019) — Detroit Mountain Recreation Area along with Leighton Broadcasting are in high spirits to announce its inaugural Gift of Giving campaign.

Detroit Mountain Recreation Area is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and is kicking off their winter season with a series of community-focused events. Each event will benefit a local charitable organization, as well as the outstanding people in which they support.

"We are grateful to have the opportunity to give back to our community," said Jeff Staley, Detroit Mountain's General Manager. "We have some amazing organizations in the area, and we would like to show appreciation towards each of their causes. All while, spreading holiday cheer"

Donations will be collected at Detroit Mountain's Landslide Tubing Park, and as an advantage for bringing a donation on that specific day, that person will receive 2 hours of tubing for just $ 10. The Hunger's Heroes Food Drive Kickoff will support the Becker County Food Pantry, Santa Paws Pet Drive will benefit the Marshmallow Foundation, Play Your Part Toy Drive will support the supply stock at the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes, and Warm Our Hearts Winter Clothes Drive benefits the Lakes Crisis and Resource Center.

Cash donations will be accepted as it will generate fundraising dollars in support of the charities, as well as Detroit Mountain's Ski Angel Program; which supports free or significantly discounted lift tickets, rentals, and on-snow instructions to individuals, families, and school groups who need assistance. The Ski Angel Scholarship Program already supports lift tickets and rentals to local nonprofits such as the Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes, Becker County Human Services, DL Public Schools, and the Kinship Program at Lakes Crisis and Resource Center.
